Chief Executive Officer | Charles A. Murren III

After graduating from Auburn University in 1981 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, Mr. Murren spent several years working for Peter Kiewit Sons Company, one of the premier heavy civil contractors in the US, working on highway, Army Corp., and marine projects in the East and Southeast United States.

In 1987 he founded C. A. Murren & Sons Company, Inc., as a heavy and highway construction company. Over the years the company has migrated away from DOT work and has evolved into a heavy civil industrial contractor focusing on the power, oil and gas industry. In the past 35 years C. A. Murren & Sons has built a reputation of providing high quality work in multiple phases of industrial construction.

President | Michael A. McPherson

C.A. Murren & Sons is a Heavy Civil Contractor “Building Great Things” throughout the East Coast. Mr. McPherson has been the Project Executive over the largest projects at C. A. Murren and is responsible for all Operations. He has successfully led the company thru transitions, economic recoveries, and growth initiatives which have strategically placed the company in its current successful position.

Mr. McPherson is an ’85 graduate EIT from the University of Georgia with a B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering. He has over 31 years’ experience in the construction industry and has been with C.A. Murren & Sons Co., Inc. since 2006. Mr. McPherson currently holds General Contractor licenses in Georgia and Virginia.

Vice President of Finance | Patrick Ryan

Patrick Ryan joined C.A. Murren in January of 2016. Since then he has become a crucial leader at the company and instrumental in maintaining CAM’s financial success. He came to C.A. Murren from 16 years at a local trucking company; before that he spent 5 years at General Electric. Patrick is a licensed CPA with an BA in Psychology from Cornell University, a BS in Computer Information Systems, and an MS in Taxation, the ladder both from Georgia State University.

Vice President of Estimating | Brian May

Brian has been with C.A. Murren since 2000 and is one of our team members with the longest tenures. He earned his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Lowell and is a Professional Engineer in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia. Brian’s extensive experience both in the field and as an Estimator make him a crucial leader and a great mentor for the up and coming Estimators and Engineers.

Vice President of Operations | Ruskin McConnell

Russ is an executive level construction professional specializing in operations for complex heavy construction projects.  He started with C. A. Murren in 2016 and has extensive experience in heavy civil, industrial, large commercial, gaming, and residential construction as a General Contractor and self performing Prime Contractor.  Russ’s diverse experience includes P & L / operational responsibility of multiple business units with varying industry focuses simultaneously.  As an operational executive/manager, Russ has also been primarily responsible for business units performing work for municipal, state, federal, industrial, and private customers in nuclear & hydro power generation, municipal and industrial water/wastewater treatment, wet utilities, information technology, and pulp & paper industries.

Vice President of Training | Charles A. Murren IV

Charlie (fondly known as ‘C4’ to his colleagues) has experienced many positions over the 20 years he has worked for the company. Starting as a laborer in college digging ditches,  he learned about pipe installation, grading, surveying and how to operate equipment (he’s always a top contender in an always very close contest of Egg Pick Up, sometimes taking home the gold medal.). He has worked in IT, administration and project management.  He earned his Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University as well as a MBA from UGA’s Terry College of Business. Today, Charlie is heading up training and development at C.A. Murren, creating clear, achievable career paths for each position in the company. Charlie is valued for his logical thinking, his technical expertise, reliability, and extremely witty, dry sense of humor. He excels at fundamental number 18—Find a Better Way, as he is always looking for the most logical and efficient way to achieve our common goals, understanding that the best way often changes with time.
