“My favorite fundamental is number 21–Think Team. An individual can never accomplish everything by themselves, but if we work as a team we can accomplish a lot.”
Becky Smith, Equipment Administrator, definitely lives this fundamental in particular. Ask for help from Becky, and you’ll get it. Becky is a positive person. “I stay true to myself. I don’t let others influence or talk me into doing things I don’t want to do.” No matter what’s going on with Becky, she wakes up on the right side of the bed every morning, maintaining an optimistic outlook on life. She is imaginative and always has a unique perspective to share with the team, along with the delicious aroma of toast at lunchtime, a smell that the recovering carb addicts in the office appreciate.
So, how did Becky get here three years ago? Before she started working in the best industry on earth, she was an elementary school teacher. She gained her degree in elementary and early childhood education from The University of Alabama (with honors). When she and her husband, Brian, moved to Georgia in the late 1990s, early 2000’s she got into office work and really enjoyed it. We feel lucky that Becky decided to come to Murren. She is extremely reliable and trustworthy. While we agree with Becky that one of her best fundamentals is Think Team, we would also like to add that she is a stickler for Honoring Commitments and Thinking and Acting like an Owner. “Don’t be fooled by the small frame and sweet demeanor,” commented a coworker, “Becky takes every task very seriously and puts all her effort into it—even if it’s shaking down a teammate for missing equipment hours.”
But we don’t take it too personally because Becky loves us all. “I love what I do. I enjoy the fact that I can work at the office, but I get to have a huge a connection with the managers in the field. It’s the best of both worlds.”
We are proud to call you our teammate, Becky. We look forward to many more years of your wonderful lunch time toast, your daily power walks, and your hardcore Murren team spirit. A toast to you!
