At C.A. Murren, leadership isn’t assumed — it’s developed. In January, our superintendents completed the first in a series of leadership and motivation training centered around two of our core Fundamentals: #21 Think Team and #22 Work on Yourself.

In the field, strong teams don’t just happen. We talked about the qualities that define effective leaders — clear communication, accountability, consistency, and the ability to set the tone on a jobsite. We discussed how every crew naturally moves through challenges, or “storming,” before reaching a high-performing stage — and how strong leadership is what moves a team forward instead of letting it stall. We also focused on growth within the team.

The best leaders don’t try to fix everything at once — they identify one area to improve, commit to it, and lead by example. Small, consistent improvements create big results in safety, quality, and production. Because when leaders improve themselves, the whole team gets better. 📋
