Shenandoah Raw Water Line Project

 Harrisonburg, Virginia

C.A. Murren completed the installation of more than 12,000 linear feet of 24-inch ductile iron raw water pipeline, providing critical infrastructure to support future growth and development in the region.

 The Work

The project included extensive erosion and sediment control measures, land clearing, demolition, stormwater infrastructure, grading, fencing, roadway restoration, and utility installation. Our team installed both restrained and unrestrained ductile iron pipe, air release assemblies, blow-off systems, storm drainage structures, and a jack-and-bore crossing utilizing a 42-inch casing. Additional work included site restoration, fence replacement, gate installation, and ongoing environmental compliance throughout construction.

 Project Highlights

One of the project’s greatest challenges was encountering significant rock conditions that were not anticipated during planning. To maintain production and avoid schedule impacts, our team adapted by utilizing a Trencor rock trencher, allowing excavation to continue efficiently through difficult subsurface conditions.
