SPRINGFIELD CANAL 01 PROJECTS

Springfield Canal City Lot & Bulkhead

 Savannah, Georgia

C.A. Murren delivered critical waterfront infrastructure improvements designed to strengthen and stabilize the canal system while enhancing the surrounding site.

 The Work

The project included extensive site preparation, excavation, utility coordination, erosion control, and structural construction. Our team installed 258 precast concrete sheet piles, ranging from 29 to 39 feet in length, along with more than 3,500 linear feet of soil anchors to create a durable bulkhead system capable of supporting long-term canal operations. Additional work included concrete pile cap construction, structural grouting, utility penetrations, grading, sidewalk construction, and site restoration throughout the project area.

 Project Highlights

What made this project noteworthy was the use of precast concrete sheet piling, an innovative alternative to traditional bulkhead construction methods. Successful installation required specialized equipment, precise alignment, and careful coordination between the project team and design professionals to achieve the required structural performance.

The project demonstrates C.A. Murren’s ability to execute complex waterfront infrastructure projects while adapting to emerging construction methods and delivering long-lasting solutions for our clients.
