Charles A. Murren III
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Murren earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Auburn University in 1981 and began his career with Peter Kiewit Sons’ Co., one of the nation’s premier heavy civil contractors. There, he gained valuable experience working on highway, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and marine projects throughout the East and Southeast.
In 1987, he founded C.A. Murren Construction, starting with small-scale concrete work before expanding into bridge construction on major highway projects. Through disciplined growth and a commitment to doing the work the right way, the company steadily broadened its capabilities.
Today, C.A. Murren is a leading heavy civil and industrial contractor, serving the power, oil, and gas industries. Since its founding, the company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality work across multiple phases of complex industrial construction — driven by a consistent standard of integrity, accountability, and performance.
Charles Murren IV
Vice President of Operations
Charlie — known to colleagues as “C4” — grew up in the business, gaining hands-on experience well before officially joining the company in 2000. He started in the field as a laborer, working in the ditch and learning pipe installation, grading, surveying, and equipment operation from the ground up. (He remains a perennial contender in the always-competitive Egg Pick Up, occasionally taking home the gold.)
From there, he moved through IT, administration, and project management, and later lead training and development before stepping into his current role. He holds a Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University and an MBA from University of Georgia Terry College of Business.
As Vice President of Operations, Charlie oversees company-wide operations, partnering closely with field leaders on safety, quality, productivity, equipment, and scheduling. He also works alongside Estimating, Finance, HR, Recruiting, and Business Development to keep projects moving and teams supported.
Known for his logical thinking, technical depth, and reliability, along with a sharp, dry sense of humor, Charlie embodies Fundamental #18 (of the Murren Way: Find a Better Way). He is always focused on improving how work gets done, recognizing that the best solution is often the one that evolves with the job.
Michael McPherson
President
Michael McPherson serves as President of C.A. Murren, bringing more than three decades of experience in the construction industry. He earned a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Georgia and has been with the company since 2006. He holds General Contractor licenses in Georgia and Virginia.
As President, Michael leads company-wide operations, ensuring teams are aligned, projects are delivered successfully, and performance standards are consistently met. He has played a key role in leading the company through periods of transition, economic recovery, and strategic growth, helping position C.A. Murren as a trusted heavy civil contractor across the East Coast.
With experience as a Project Executive on some of the company’s largest and most complex projects, Michael brings a steady, disciplined approach to leadership, focused on accountability, execution, and delivering results that are proven in the field.
Barbara White
Chief Financial Officer
Known for her disciplined approach and ability to bring structure to complex environments, Barbara “Bobbi” White has spent more than 25 years leading financial strategy and operations across a range of industries. As a Certified Public Accountant with an MBA and advanced financial management training, she has led finance organizations across construction, manufacturing, and private equity-backed companies.
Before joining C.A. Murren, Bobbi held executive finance roles where she led complex initiatives, including acquisitions, system implementations, and financial restructuring, building the infrastructure needed to support long-term performance.
As CFO of C.A. Murren, Bobbi oversees the strategic management of Finance, Accounting, HR, IT, and Legal functions. She provides corporate guidance to support the company’s long-term growth, helping position the organization to pursue larger government contracts by implementing the procedures, policies, and controls required to meet strict security and compliance standards. She partners closely with leadership to strengthen financial strategy, support decision-making, and align resources with the demands of the work, driving performance that is proven in the field.
Neil Savignano
Corporate Controller
Neil joined C.A. Murren in 2022, bringing more than 25 years of experience in accounting and financial leadership. A graduate of Georgia State University, he has built a career supporting small to mid-sized, growth-stage companies across a range of industries, including service and manufacturing.
His background spans diverse sectors from printing and IT to home décor and packaging, giving him a broad perspective on financial operations and business performance.
As Corporate Controller, Neil oversees the company’s accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and financial discipline across the organization. His experience and steady approach play a key role in supporting the company’s continued growth and operational strength.
Brian May
Vice President of Estimating
With more than two decades at C.A. Murren, Brian is one of the company’s longest-tenured leaders, bringing deep institutional knowledge and a practical, field-informed perspective to his role. He earned his Civil Engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Virginia.
Brian’s experience spans both field operations and estimating, giving him a well-rounded understanding of project execution from planning through delivery. As Vice President of Estimating, he leads the development of accurate, disciplined project estimates while mentoring the next generation of estimators and engineers.
Known for his steady leadership and technical expertise, Brian plays a critical role in setting projects up for success, ensuring every job begins with the clarity, precision, and accountability needed to deliver results that are proven in the field.
Hope Barton
Director of People Operations
Hope Barton brings more than 20 years of experience in recruiting, training, and team development, with a strong track record of building high-performing teams and driving results. She began her career in retail leadership, progressing through roles in store and district management, where she developed a hands-on approach to talent acquisition, coaching, and operational performance.
Before joining C.A. Murren, Hope served in leadership roles with Signet Jewelers, where she led full-cycle recruiting efforts, trained managers across the Southeast, and supported business growth through strategic hiring and development initiatives.
As Director of People Operations, Hope leads the company’s efforts to attract, develop, and support its workforce, strengthening recruiting, training, and development programs that equip employees with the tools, skills, and confidence to lead effectively. She works closely with leadership to enhance processes while preserving the company’s core values, align talent with business needs, and reinforce a culture where people are prepared to grow and succeed.
